Hi guys,
I think this application is begging to have a command-line version to be installed on Linux servers. I use a small Debian machine at home as a file server, and I think it would be a blast to have this program running there, where all my files are, the ones I would like to share.
Thank you for your great work!
CLI version

This is a feature we plan to launch within the next couple of weeks (requested frequently). Basically it would be a limited version with only password protected remote access enabled.
The current problem is that some features like 'share local files' doesn't work remotely since they use the native file/dir browser (not the firefox file browser), which means that adding files won't be possible. We are working on an html version of those but it takes some work.Posted 4 years ago # -
over SSH, I hope, and not over Telnet?

Would love to see a CLI for usage on my FreeNAS =)

The share local files shouldnt be a problem for a cli.
Somebody thrifty enough to use a cli, would propably be capable of specifying dirs in a config file or as a parameter
Why not go all the way and include an init.d start/stop script - then its completely automatic!

An init.d script would be splendid! It would integrate more smoothly with the rest of the system. On my server (and I think it's common) I don't have X installed. So for me "CLI version" also implies no dependency on X. I know it's probably evident, but it can't hurt to emphasize it anyway. :-)

An init script is os specific. That's up to distribution packagers, imho. Though, a control tool that would ease the work for packagers would rock the swarm!

I'd consider this one of the most important features to add at the moment.

I completely agree with DarkAlf - A CLI version fit for running on a server is a very important feature, if you want the swarm to be reliable (ie: people won't be constantly logging off without sending you your data)
edit: please excuse me if my knowledge is flawed - i don't know much about p2p technologies.

Yep, a p2p network will never become widely used in the long term if the power-users with servers (nice connection, 24/7 online) don't like the system or if there is no non-gui version.

Yeah, katanassoul, you tell those DC++ guys.
Don't take this as a no against a CLI version, I would absolutely love to see it happen for many, many reasons.
