It doesn't add them automatically to old files (yet) -- just files that have been newly hashed since 0.6. We will probably add a one-time scan for all old files that adds tags automatically.
I have rehashed all my files after the update ;-)
That's why I have posted this as a bug :)
edit: seems that it actually is caused by the ID3-tag version, the files were tagged by different versions...
I edited the ID3-tags (now they are 3v2.4 and 3v1 tagged) and now the lost albums&interprets are shown correctly
Well now I have to add that it didn't work with all interprets&albums, there are still lots that are not in the artists and albums lists.
I confirm this bug. All my MP3 files are tagged with both id3v1 and id3v2 but only a handfull did get automatically tagged.

"Bug"
drmemento: if you would have read my posts you would have known that i have deleted and rehashed ALL my files after editing the ID3 tags...
If you read the post by kkr you wouldn't know whether or not he rehashed it or not.
Yes you would. First I said I confirmed the bug and second if I didn't rehash it would be a miracle if suddenly tags based on id3 data appeared for some of the files.
Katanassoul: Do you know which encoding you tags are in? Most of mine are probably in UTF8.
kkr: atm I don't really know but I think it should be UTF8 too.
I have the same bug, latest release. Almost NONE of my tags are read in a collection that has been verified and known good with MP3 Diags, all of them with ID32.4 tags. I see lots of this in the console:

WHY? Why is java throwing null dereferences?
Hmm, do you know what program was used to rip and/or tag these originally? Unfortunately, the ID3 standard has a lot of quirks, and so it's possible we're not parsing some variants correctly.
Amarok 1.4.10 (Taglib) has tagged them, some of them have been corrected by MP3 Diags (a minority).
So? Why am I getting a crapload of subprocess SEGFAULTS / nullpointeres while reading the tags?
I should clarify that very, very few of my files get their tags read correctly.
