   I know this is probably a heavily debated question, but I'm curious what video format everyone here prefers? With the increasing variety of devices that people watch video on, I'd imagine this is getting harder to agree upon.

   In particular:

   Container: AVI, MKV, MP4, etc.
   Video: MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (FFmpeg, Xvid, DivX, ...), H.264 (x264, ...), etc.
   Audio: AC3, MP3 (LAME, FFmpeg, ...), etc.
   Video Resolution: 720x480, 352x240, etc.
   Audio Channels: 5.1, 3.1, 2.1, 2, 1, etc.

   In short, what's the most common device you watch video on? A TV? Your computer? Mobile device? From a disc or other storage?

   TV connected to htpc

   mostly online streaming but also some x.264 720p tv-shows
   movies: almost never

   1080P on my 1080P projector from my computer using media player classic and ffdshow. I don't have an opinion on the rest as long as the quality is good.

   video: I can't watch 720p :( 480p is fine though. so i prefer 480p mkv, dvd iso or avi (xvid)
   audio: doesn't matter
   audio channels: no surround = 2

   Thanks for the replies so far! I'm actually surprised a few more didn't add their opinion... or maybe I should rephrase the question? ;)

   Jag vet att detta är förmodligen en starkt debatterat frågan, men jag är nyfiken på vad videoformat alla här föredrar? Med den ökande mängd olika enheter som människor tittar på video på, jag skulle tro det blir svårare att enas om.

   I synnerhet:

   Container: AVI, MKV, MP4, etc.

   Kort sagt, vad är den vanligaste enheten du titta på video på? En TV? Din dator? Mobil enhet? Från en skiva eller annat?

   OGG Vorbis/Theora! :D F/L/OSS FTW!

   I prefer the original video size up to my laptops screen size - 1280*800.
   Stereo is good enough for sound. 2:1 would be nice though.
   I usually use the computer.

   What about changing flash-player to html5?
   Also it will be good to make subtitles support :)

   Avi divx 5 the past years, but now, as I have a brand new 52" LCD I only go for .264 MKVs HD 720p minimum. (And those are a pain to download in 1S if the users show every once in a while like most seem to do)
   Audio : Dolby 5.1 or DTS.

   Tip to the video creators :
   Multi-langage is a must have ! (at least 2, Original Version (usually english) and one other) Not only it enables you to choose the OV but also it helps seeding tremendously as you benefit of those who have downloaded it for the OV.
