   I installed OneSwarm hopeful that it would overcome my ISP's blocking of P2P applications. Unfortunately, this application too has succumbed to the blocking. So I am starting this thread to solicit some thoughts from others here as to whether or not there is a workaround.

   What seems to be happening is that with some P2P apps although I can connect to a network per se, other peers are unable to connect to me. They are being directed to an IP address that is a black hole. Changing port numbers has no effect. I have even tried to use port 80 but no luck there.

   One possible solution to all this is perhaps using a VPN service. But at this point I am looking for alternatives.

   The behavior you're describing sounds like your connection is getting NATed, or incoming connections are being filtered.
   Does this not happen on non P2P apps? Are you able to host a web server, and access it from outside your ISP?

   If it only occurs for incoming connections it should slow you down, but not fully disconnect you, since you'll still be able to connect to other peer - right?

   I have not tried hosting a web server and would not know how to do that. Is there another way of testing this?

   Why is it that when I see a particular port open and established by OneSwarm and attempt to use this as the specified port that it times out?
