Oneswarm need a test file like the picture of the lady in hat and feathers that graphics programs has.
Does it have one?
If no, maybe one public domain video from archive.org?

Probably good to be not too big a file, like 15M or maybe less. But big enough to watch KBs rate and see how well it perform over a minute or more.
Then we can test our connections to see how fast when pretty much everyone has the same file.
By the way I don't mean just for programmers to do tests but also for new users so they can see possible power of the network even if they don't have any swarms yet or know what they want to find.

ogg video is 42.7M? Is it big enough for testing or do we need mpeg2 237.8M?

That is fast download speed for me a nd only three seeds so far!
maybe this can be added a link for new users when they set up community server. Install and hook up then it tell you this link to test how well is the connection.
Also I just noticed I didn't booted up 1S for one day now I am running it I have a TON of community contacts. What happened did 1S quickly get popular?
what communities are you using? i tried searching for that file and nothing came up

i was finding it before but now i don't.
got it to work, at about half way through i was looking at:
seed channels: 10
peer channels: 0
DL speed: 60KB/s
I deleted then download again. it start with 12 seed and 3 peer about 30KBps. half way through i am getting 14 seed 0 peer and 34KBps to 69KBps.
the first download i got 240KBps with 3 seed.
We should just spread the file.
How to spread it? When I search it tells me there is only one path.
I'd say by holding it in the share. :)

oh there it comes! hm i search about 8 times both search and Add URL and no thing come up. then i search after posting above and now i find it. (btw i am still seeding just looking if others have it too)
how it decides to come up? also i see one path is that mean only 1 other user has the file?

Ok now when searching for the file i can see two paths. Does it mean there are two people who has the file?
also- when i click on the file in the search results and check the sources it tell me the names of 'limited' peers. but that doesn't mean they have the file, right- it just mean they are at least on path to the file?
also- when i click on the swarm as it download and choose 'view swarm detials' from the drowpdown list and look at 'sources' that way it then tells me 'sources information unknown'. but i just see it previously! where did it go?
finally- i see to day in canada they get easier laws to make isps give over names of the people who have one of their ip addy. does that mean people can threaten 1S by making a 'threaten chain' to get all the way back to source? user 'foo' relay the data for 'buttspook', and buttspook get name of 'foo' from isp and download again and threaten foo with jail unless he tell the next hop down the path until buttspook reach the end and arrest there. if it doesn't cost to get names from coward isp then this is possible,no?
the test file is working good now.i get highest download speed possible my isp give me.
new 1S users are able to dl it too even without being connected to me!this is good news.

I just deleted and redownload and had about 25 seeds + 25 seeds on alternate source.
BTW-what is alternate source? If hash is different how does 1S know that it is same file?
and it is only 43M so not too heavy for test :)
Deleted and re-downloaded in 8m31s ! (with tree sources but only one active in this transfer)
But Zoorgh, you not got 25 "seeds" on your download but 25 differents "paths" to a unique source (and 25 others "paths" to an another 'alternate' source).
So, when i re-launched my download, i saw you as the third source. ;)

Because the 2 seeders have high speed uploads. ;-)

Of course, in first, the download speed depends of the uploader speeds.
That said, the number of paths is important too because when a path is overloaded, 1S will try use another path for the transfer; if that is not possible (ie, no more path) the download is suspended until that path is again usable.

Here is an important point with Oneswarm : it looks on the share ratios between friends.
If you download lot of datas but never or rarely upload, your share ratio with your friends is deprecated. Yours friends will no more forward (less and less in fact) your requests to their own friends.
You find the datas researched but the download never start ! (Or take months ... :-)
Because your share ratios with most of your friends are (really) bad.

Seriously, simple deduction :
- this test file for the 1S network speed was your idea !
- and you said that you (re)downloaded it recently.
=> you *must* be is seed ... ;-)

But therefore then this is problem with 1S not me!
i see ratios in friends list look like they average to 1 or maybe below 1 in my favor. most of time i am idle not download anything. just sit here and relaying. but there are anyway 3 or 4 friends where my ratio is bad-the value is 8 or 9 and one of these friends has send me many gigs so maybe he is the guy who had paths to that file i cannot download.
but it confuses that he send me many gigs but now didn't forward request to friends. is he busy always? this is hard to think because 1S is very small still. i guess it means the network is very 'thin'-we depend on big fast node like him but when they stop we have no path at all to data.
how to get the network bigger?
well
i hope devs put a possibility to use a common test file in next version. like when you join community server it ask "do you want to download small test file to help everyone test speed?" then in network settings next to "speed test" have "re-download test file" so you can test the best case for downloading popular torrent.
if we get so good speeds with just 2 seeds imagine how good it look with majority of peers have the seed!
