    Hello,

I've installed OneSwarm on my computer, everything seems OK, but i can't connect any community servers, to get default friends.

I've asked the french oneswarm forum for that problem, we have done successfully a remote connection on my oneswarm. We have also been able to add manually friends, but never a community server.

Can you help me please ?

My computer is a Mac, I have oneswarm 0.6.9
    My NAT port is Open.
    I use Firefox

Can you load the default community server webpage in your browser? -- https://community.oneswarm.org/

    Yes, I can.
I add a security exception for this, but it works.

I forget to tell that I have a yellow circle with "L" inside, next to the forum name.

When you start OneSwarm then firefox starts automatically, and then look carefully you see your community servers load on the right side of the search field.

If you click on it while it is trying to load a community server (which it always does in the beginning) then you get a popup telling you what is going on.

NAT settings have nothing to do with community servers, and your problem could be that your Community Server is down. Many of my community servers sometime never respond for a whole week. Sometimes they do respond, but no connection to any of the new users.

An easy way of checking that your community server works is to press the icon "Friends". After loading that page you can click once at the column "source". Then the list gets sorted so you can see users for every community server. Next to it you have a "Date added" showing WHEN the user was added. You can also see if you ever have had a connection to that friend.

    Airship, thanks for your response.
For the moment I only try to use the default community server (https://community.oneswarm.org/). It appears in the right side, but with a yellow icon.
My friends list is empty, I have nothing to sort.
When I open Oneswarm, I get the message "refreshing server... 0%" and it never change, even if I wait 30 mins.
I have also tried to delete this server from the "Setting" / "Network" window, and then to subscribe again by clicking on the server part (in the right side of oneswarm), but in that case, in the popup window I get an Error message (something like "an error has occured").
I don't understand why. I guess that the default server is working. And the people from french oneswarm forum had no problems with it.
    I have no ideas...

I do not know ANYTHING about macintosh computers :)

BUT, I have an idea to your problem.
Could this be a problem with file system rights?

I know an old bug in OneSwarm where the temp-folder was filled out with backup-copies of the friend list. Even after the bug is gone the temp-folder is heavily used by OneSwarm when refreshing the friend list. And because your friend list is empty: Maybe your macintosh do not allow the OneSwarm program to write to a disc?

Also: This is a java program, so try to upgrade your JAVA-version

    Thanks airship,
It's an interesting idea, but I've checked, and I have no problem about rights between Oneswarm and my computer.

    I use Java 5, do you think I need a 6 ?

Well... jre7 is bundled with the OneSwarm windows versions because of a bug in jre6, but still... jre5 sounds "too old". Once again my knowledge of macintosh holds me back.

But having the latest JAVA usually makes things work better. For example next version of Firefox (3.6) will force the use of "jre6 update10 or later"...

Hello to everyone - I installed OneSwarm for the first time yesterday and had the same problem as Bill. I could add individual friends manually but could not connect to a community server. I had the same error messages and yellow indicators. In the end I uninstalled OneSwarm and reinstalled making sure no other programs were running. Now everything seems OK (except that OneSwarm seems to have a very steep learning curve!) Hope this helps.
