I'd like to understand the new planned feature of publishing a file to a community server like that:
https://community.oneswarm.org/
Right now a community server is just a friend hub: it stores friend (OneSwarm node) information and hands it out to clients. All data sharing is done between the clients.
If content information is hosted on a community server, I think it runs into the same liability as popular torrent sharing websites (as opposed to a pure torrent tracker). It's facilitating access to content resources (by file name), and if some content is objectionable (e.g. breaking some law or infringing I.P.) the server itself may be held liable. (Ok, the legal situation it's not as clear-cut and there is more finesse to it)
It's very different from a torrent tracker, which is perfectly legal, does not host content information, and only handles resource location information.
IMHO, obviously, what do you think?
